Works very well - solid as a rock

Posted by Daniel Reed on 8th Jun 2016

I Included it in my last order as an extra option - and I'm glad i did! It is extremely sturdy and holds firmly onto 15mm rods like crazy glue! Seriously, I was surprised at how strong the clamp is - It maintains it orientation and position even under crazy force.

Based the review by WKW, I was a little worried I'd be wasting $10... But I've wasted more at a bar, so i figured i'd go ahead and toss it in with my order. WKW either got a bad sample, didn't tighten it enough, or maybe SmallRig improved on it somehow. The one I received is a very snug fit on 15mm rods with no play.

Also, I highly recommend the SmallRIG quick release single rod clamp for 15mm #910 - it also has an extremely strong clap w/ no play and its low profile makes it great for quicking adding stuff in tight spaces.

Frankly I am finding SmallRIG parts to be better crafted then the wares of some competitors costing 10 times as much.

    Solid, but doesn't clamp

Posted by WKW on 3rd Apr 2016

I love smallrig stuff - my whole rig is pretty much made from their stuff, based out of the versa cage (which is fantastic).
However, this has to be the weakest element i've encountered from them. It's very solid, but the 15mm clamp part doesn't seem to work at all - it won't clamp and spins around the rod, not useful at all.
Perhaps a one off bad apple?
